Storm Blog

The Purpose of this Blog

This Blog is intended to be used in response to specific storms that result in widespread damage to forest resources. It is intended to be a convenient medium to distribute fast-breaking news that would be helpful in the recovery from storm damage and restoration of forest resources.

The model for this Blog is the Katrina Blog that the Mississippi Forestry Association operated after Hurricane Katrina in 2005. That Blog posted information from local, state, and federal agencies such as temporary modifications to truck weight limits, expedited storm water permitting for log storage facilities, and cost share programs for landowners.

Following a large storm, an organization such as a state forestry association or some other organization may wish to host such a Blog and this Woody BUG website will link to it.
